The 70’s

Taking a break from the 9th generation of French ancestors. Just finished scanning a box of Mom’s pictures from the 70’s. Lots of Lake, CYC, Held, Ball BQ pics. Also a lot of horrible haircuts and questionable fashion.

I’ll post some of these in the next few weeks. Not too many at once. Your heart can only take so much.

Bettie Held Memorial Service

Yesterday, the Held siblings hosted a Memorial Service for Bettie at their local church, Zions-St. Peter United Church of Christ in Pershing, MO.

Here is the program:

Don Held

It was a beautiful day to be out in the country. There were family, friends and neighbors in attendance. One of the speakers was the former Minister at the Church. He said Bettie had left her mark in many ways, choosing the color the interior was painted, selecting the light fixtures, and always decorating the Christmas tree. Everyone spoke of Bettie’s kind and friendly nature, her amazing energy in helping in so many ways, and her endless creativity.

After the service, we went next door to the church hall, where we had lunch. Chance to catch up with Cindy, Carol, Andy and members of Jim Held’s family.

Cindy had pictures spread out over six or seven long tables. Several were very old pictures of Donnie’s extended family. Here are a few of the many pics:

Marty and Dottie. Guessing this is Barb and Tim.

Dinner time.

The family farm, which Don and Bettie purchased in the early 50’s after they were married, was recently sold.
