Jean Creely/Angelique LaSonde

Jean Baptiste CREELY was born 8 Jan 1733 at New Roads, Pointe Coupee, Louisiana. New Roads was established in the 1720’s by French traders.  It is one of the oldest communities in the Mississippi River Valley.

He married Angelique LaSonde 2 Sep 1755 at Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia, IL.  Kaskaskia, IL is across the Mississippi River from Ste. Genevieve, MO.

They had five kids:

Jean Baptiste died 9 Oct 1776 in Kaskaskia, IL.

Angelique Pilet LASONDE was born in 1733 in Kaskaskia.  She died 31 Jul 1776 in Kaskaskia, IL.

This is the last of our 6-great grandparents.

Charles DeLisle/Elizabeth LaLand

Charles Bienvenu DELISLE was born 2 Jun 1735 in Quebec. He married Elizabeth LaLand in 2 Jun 1760 in Kaskaskia, IL.  They had five kids:

Charles died in 1803 in St Louis.

Elizabeth Guillemont LALAND was born in 1739 in Kaskaskia, IL.  She died after 1789 in Kaskaskia.

Pierre Lerige/Marie Hubert

Pierre LERIGER DIT LAPLANTE was born 25 Oct 1704 in LaPrairie, Quebec, Canada.  He married Marie Hubert 15 Jul 1728 in LaPrairie.  They had ten kids:

Marie Louise HUBERT DIT LACROIX was born 2 Jan 1702 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  She died 13 Feb 1772 in LaPrairie.  She was 70 years old.

Joseph Payant/Marie Legris

Joseph Jacques PAYANT was born 19 Feb 1700 in Quebec, Canada.  He married Marie Legris on 2 Nov 1721 at Notre Dame Church.

They lived in a house on Rue St Flavien, near the St Lawrence River, in Quebec City. He was a blacksmith.

In the 1740’s, the Payant family moved to the Richelieu valley.  The Richelieu River runs from Lake Champlain to the St Lawrence River.

Joseph Payant owned a ship and some smaller boats. He captained the ship, which was used to transport troops and military provisions on the Richelieu River and Lake Champlain during the French and Indian Wars, between 1756 and 1760. Due to his superior skills on the water he was nicknamed the “Admiral of Lake Champlain“.  In August 1760, Payant’s ship was involved in a military defeat at the hands of the British.  At 60 years old, Payant decided to retire from navigating the Lake Champlain.

Another 6GG, William Woodford, fought for the State of Connecticut, in the French-Indian War.  Interesting we had relatives on both sides.

Joseph died in 1777, in LaPrairie, Quebec. He was 74 years old.

Marie Jeanne Genevieve LEGRIS was born 18 Mar 1699 in Quebec.  She died 2 Mar 1753 in Quebec.  She was 53 years old.

 

Conrad Seevers/Cheretraait Busenburger

Conrad SEEVERS was born abt. 1722 in Germany.  He married Cheretraait Busenburger abt. 1745 in Hunterdon, New Jersey.  They had four kids:

Conrad died in 1755 at Hunterdon, NJ.

Cheretraait BUSENBURGER was born in 1714 in Amwell, Hunterdon, NJ.  Her name is German for Gertrude.  She died in 1810 in Amwell.

William Woodford/Susannah Garrett

William WOODFORD was born 13 Nov 1722 in Farmington, CT.  He married Susannah Garrett 31 Oct 1745 in Farmington.  They had 13 kids in a span of 23 years:

William fought in the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War.  He was a Captain.

William died 26 Mar 1803 in Avon, CT. He was 80 years old. He is buried at Cider Brook Cemetery in Avon.

Susannah GARRETT was born 2 Oct 1725 in Simsbury, CT.  She died 21 May 1805 in Avon, CT. She was 79 years old.

Thomas WOODRUFF was born 6 Jun 1725 in Farmington, Hartford, CT.  He married Rebecca Loomis 26 Jun 1748 in Farmington. They had six kids:

Abraham Humphrey/Lois Merrill

Abraham HUMPHREY was born 6 Jun 1740 in Simsbury, Hartford, CT.  He married Lois Merrill in 1760 in Simsbury.  They had five kids:

Lois MERRILL was born 4 May 1740 in Hartford, CT.  She died in 1794 in Burlington, CT.  She was 53 years old.

John Woodford/Mary Riley

This is the first of the 6-great-grandparents on the Dougherty side of the family.

John WOODFORD was born in 1744 in Avon, Hartford, CT.  He married Mary Riley 27 Sep 1763 in Avon.  They had seven kids:

Phillip Bixler/Barbara Hormingsett

Phillip Abraham BIXLER was born 28 Aug 1755 in Brecknock, Berks, PA.  He married Barbara Hormingstreet in 1781 Berks County, PA. They had 10 kids.
