Yesterday, the Held siblings hosted a Memorial Service for Bettie at their local church, Zions-St. Peter United Church of Christ in Pershing, MO.
It was a beautiful day to be out in the country. There were family, friends and neighbors in attendance. One of the speakers was the former Minister at the Church. He said Bettie had left her mark in many ways, choosing the color the interior was painted, selecting the light fixtures, and always decorating the Christmas tree. Everyone spoke of Bettie’s kind and friendly nature, her amazing energy in helping in so many ways, and her endless creativity.
After the service, we went next door to the church hall, where we had lunch. Chance to catch up with Cindy, Carol, Andy and members of Jim Held’s family.
Cindy had pictures spread out over six or seven long tables. Several were very old pictures of Donnie’s extended family. Here are a few of the many pics:
The family farm, which Don and Bettie purchased in the early 50’s after they were married, was recently sold.
