A few weeks ago, I visited the area where Grandma Dougherty and Dottie were born.
Grandma was born in Fillmore, MO in Andrew County in 1914. Her father, William F Wiley, was a Methodist minster at the church in Fillmore. Today’s population is about 135. Lots of buildings and homes that were likely there in 1914.
Dottie was born in Clearmont MO in Nodaway County in 1912.
William Wiley ministered at this church also. He was often transferred every year to another church in the Nodaway County area.
Several Wiley family members are buried in White Oak Cemetery, in Pickering, MO. It is a typical country cemetery at the end of a long gravel road surrounded by farmland. It is still an active cemetery. Luckily all the Wiley’s are buried togerther, as are many other families.
This is Grandma Dougherty’s father, William F Wiley. Jessie was his first wife. He married Katherine Kludas in 1911 and they had Dottie and Grandma.
James Anderson Wiley is William’s father. He died in 1912 in Pickering, MO. He was a farmer.
James was married to Elizabeth Jane (Allen).
Jacob Alaska Wiley. Brother of James Anderson Wiley.
Andrew Jackson Wiley was the son of James and Elizabeth Wiley.
Lawrence was the son of Andrew Jackson Wiley.
Jacob Wallis Wiley was the son of James and Elizabeth Wiley.
