Jacques PAYANT was born in 1682 in St Colombe, Jonzac, France. He came to Quebec, Canada in 1699. He married Marie Morin in Quebec. They had one child:

Marie Louise MORIN was born 29 Oct 1678 in Petit Rivieres, Quebec, CA. She died 20 Feb 1710 in Quebec. She was 31 years old.
Jean Baptiste PAYANT was born 3 Apr 1726 in LaPrairie, Quebec, Canada. LaPrairie is seven miles south of Montreal on the St Lawrence River. The name Payant was later changed by his son to Piant. Jean married Catherine Leriger on 14 Apr 1755 at Notre Dame-de LaPrairie-de-la Madeline Church.

Catherine Marie Francoise LERIGER was born 17 Nov 1736 in Quebec. She died in 1795 in LaPrarie.
Peter PIANT was born Dec 1773 in LaPraire, Quebec, Canada. He was part of the French migration from Quebec who came to Florissant in the late 1700’s. He is the first member of our family tree to arrive in St Louis. He married Elizabeth Creely 25 Jul 1799 at St Ferdinand Catholic Church in Florissant.
In the early 1800’s, Florissant was a small village on the Missouri River. It is likely that Peter Piant was present when Lewis and Clark stopped in Florissant in 1804 at the beginning of their expedition.

Elizabeth CREELEY was born 18 Feb 1774 in Kaskaskia, IL. Her family was probably part of the migration from Quebec, south. The Creely family moved from Kaskaskia to Florissant. Elizabeth died 14 Oct 1872 in Florissant. She is buried at St Ferdinand Cemetery.
This is Peter Piant’s home in Florissant. This picture was taken in the 1870’s, after he had died. The man, second from right, seated in the wheelchair is probably his son Jean Baptiste Piant. This house was built in the 1850’s.
Jean Baptiste PIANT was born 3 Jan 1820 in Florissant, MO. He married Marie Watts 11 Apr 1850 at the Old Cathedral in St Louis. He was a farmer. They had eight children.

Marie Louise WATTS was born abt. 1832 in Florissant, MO. She died 29 Nov 1902 in Florissant. She is buried at St Ferdinand Cemetery (Plot NE 09, Lot 004EH)
Andrew GRACE was born 17 May 1844 in Swordlestown, Newbridge, Kildare, Ireland. He and his family came to the U.S. in 1850. He served in the Civil War, Iowa Infantry, 20th Regiment as a 2nd Sergeant. He married Elizabeth Piant, 23 Nov 1870 at St Ferdinand Catholic Church in Florissant, MO. He lived at:

1880 – Jackson County, MO
1900 – 4104 Page Avenue
1910 – 4119 Cook Avenue
1920 – 5058 Page Avenue
He was a night clerk and a bookkeeper for a streetcar company. He and Elizabeth had nine kids:

Andrew died 10 Mar 1927 in St Louis. He was 82 years old. He is buried at St Ferdinand Cemetery.
Elizabeth PIANT was born 18 May 1851 in Florissant. She died 9 Aug 1914. She was 63 years old. She is buried with Andrew at St Ferdinand Cemetery.
