Alma Fitzgerald

Sean discovered a couple of scrapbooks when he was visiting last weekend. One belonged to Dad and the other to his mother, Alma.

Frederick Lipps/Sarah Swan

Frederick John LIPPS was born 15 Aug 1847 in Baden, Germany.  He arrived in the US in 1865.  He was enlisted in the Civil War.  He was a Full 2nd Lt. in the Union Army.  After the war, he was a farmer.  Not sure when he and Sarah were married, but our great-grandfather John Lipps was their first child, born in 1869.  Other children were:

Charles – b 1874, d-1941, married Margaret Weber

Louis – b 1876, d 1904

Frances – b 1880, d 1906, married Ignatius Burger

Frank – b 1884, d 1885

Frederick died 8 Jan 1928.  He is buried at Eiseleben Lutheran Cemetery, in Scott City, MO.

Sarah SWAN was born 4 Jun 1849 in Erie County, PA.  She died 27 Sep 1888 in Kelso, MO.

Alma’s parents were John and Catherine, our great-grandparents.

John Lipps was born 15 Nov 1869 in Kelso, MO.  He married Catherine Blattel 22 Nov 1892 at St Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.

John was a farmer and for years he worked as a machinist/inspector for the Cotton Belt Railroad.  He retired from the railroad in 1937.

John died 18 Jul 1962 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was 92 years old.  He is buried at St Joseph Cemetery in Scott City, MO.

Catherine Blattel was born 21 Sep 1870 in New Hamburg, MO.  She died 2 May 1958 in Cape Girardeau.  She was 87 years old.  She is buried with John.
